Production Engineer
Job Duties & Responsibilities

  *   Managing and supporting the core messaging platform, including actively promoting a close working relationship with the Customer and Network Operations Center (CNOC) and Account Management Teams to provide day-to-day support to customer escalations and problem solving on incident tickets
  *   Provide day-to-day operational support and administration of Linux/Java based services including the installation, configuration and regular upgrades/maintenance of the core messaging applications
  *   Collaborate closely with Carrier Management team for the setup of Carrier/Aggregator connections
  *   Troubleshoot problems with and reconfigure the messaging platform as needed to ensure the timely delivery of messages
  *   Availability: either of 2 shifts Monday - Friday: 6am - 3pm or 12noon/1pm - 9pm/10pm; also emergency day-time shift on weekend if critical business need
Skills & Requirements

  *   Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline
  *   Ability to work as part of an on-call rotation
  *   Power user level of the Linux operating system
  *   Solid understanding of general messaging and queuing concepts (funneling strategies, windowing, throttling, etc.)
  *   Strong understanding of Unix text parsing/manipulation tools (grep, awk, sed, perl, etc.)
  *   Exposure to Perl/Bash scripting abilities
  *   Experience with web based protocols and general Linux based TCP/IP networking (ifconfig, netstat, tcpdump, etc.)
  *   User level experience with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres)
  *   Experience supporting Java based production applications
  *   Solid experience with Tomcat, Glassfish, OpenMQ, and Redhat/CentOS, and experience working in the SMS industry (understanding standard protocols SMPP, UCP, HTTP, etc.) desired
