Job Description:
This position is responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of all Linux/UNIX systems. The systems administrator will support daily operations and help develop strategies to improve availability and utilization of East Alabama Medical Centers Linux / UNIX environment.

Experience:
Must be able to exhibit previous experience in the following areas:
                Server installation and upgrades.
                Daily administrative duties for multiple Linux/UNIX servers.
                Patch management and monitoring.
                Create, test, and maintain system backups for Linux/UNIX servers.
                Maintain and develop system monitoring tools.
                Maintain and develop high availability solutions.
                Support 24x7x365 data center operations.
                Provide on-call support.

Minimum:
2 years system administration experience in a Linux / UNIX environment supporting mission critical systems. Good interpersonal communication skills and written communication skills. Experience configuring and maintaining Bind DNS & DHCP, NFS, SAMBA, and SNMP.  Perl or other scripting language.
Preferred / Desired:
5+ years system administration experience in a Linux / UNIX environment supporting mission critical systems. Experience configuring HA systems using Red Hat Cluster Suite and GFS.
Education:
College degree in Information Systems, Electrical
Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum: Associates degree.
Preferred:  Bachelor's degree.
Certifications:
Minimum:  Red Hat Certified System Administrator
Preferred: Red Hat Certified System Engineer
