SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Linux / UNIX system administrator installs, maintains and monitors
multiple servers and applications running on the servers. This position
supports life cycle environments including development, QA, staging and
production.  The applicant must have strong communication skills and a
vast knowledge in system troubleshooting and support.  This is a
contract position within the Operations organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

*	Coordination of all system management activities including
software upgrades, capacity planning, and performance monitoring and
tuning
*	Plan and coordinate testing changes, upgrades and new products,
ensuring systems will operate optimally in current and future
environments
*	Responsible for the complete process of infrastructure design
and operations, including systems analysis and maintenance, security,
network operations and support, systems configurations.
*	Infrastructure includes hardware, operating systems, database
management systems, network and security. 
*	Conducts end-to-end plan design, controls production, and
implements and monitors systems. 
*	Tune operating system and hardware for optimal performance 
*	Monitor servers and applications for errors and performance
problems. 
*	Develop long-term strategy for historical data retention and
archival plan for storage needs; defines data retention, backup, and
recovery. 
*	Develops packages to automate distribution of installation
executable software and related software on target machines. 
*	Maintains data dictionaries and ensures integration of systems
through data design. 
*	Interact with software, network, database, and other internal
teams to seamlessly implement solutions to complex technical issues
*	Proactively monitor and manage capacity.  This includes (but is
not limited to) monitoring CPU, memory, and IO and ensuring growth needs
are planned
*	Participate in 24x7x365 support (including a rotating, on-call
schedule)
*	Perform other job related tasks as directed 

QUALIFICATIONS:

*	Linux/UNIX skills (Minimum 5 years systems administration
experience) 
*	Strong knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux Version 5
*	 Experience in systems and network problem solving
*	Must be able to install and configure Redhat Enterprise Linux  
*	Experience with corporate LDAP implementation a plus
*	Experience with corporate DNS implementation a plus
*	Fundamental networking and basic network troubleshooting skills
*	Requires degree in Information Systems, Engineering, computer
science, related discipline or equivalent work experience and
certifications
*	Strong verbal and written communications skills a must
*	Ability to work with minimal direction and work in a team
environment
*	Experience with Solaris operating systems a plus
*	System level programming in Shell/Perl scripting a plus
