Thanks for helping.
I would have imagined that kernel.org would have been in sync with the base fedora 18 component as it's pretty much static and been out for a relatively long time, but lets see if somebody from kernel.org wants to chime in :)

THe answer is that kernel.org IS out of date. so if you are mirroring
off of it.. then it is the cause of the problem. Sorry for not
checking that first.
