(Seriously; they don't support nor even attempt to test >n+2 ugprades)

I only bother with total teardown/reinstall upon complete hardware 
replacement.  And even then only if something else prevents just 
transferring over the old filesystem as-is.  (eg major repartitioning, 
cpu/boot architecture changes, etc)
