I am surprised that some of your your tech-savy users are using Google. In a word Google is evil. It tracks what you are searching for and sends it on to god-knows-who. 

I stopped using Google years ago and now use duck-duck-go. This is a utility that can reside in the browser and does anonymous searching for whatever you want.
