[ale] [OT] TigerDirect Closing

I had a really bad experience with them about 5 years ago. I bought a USB hub, which the site described as powered, however, when I received it, it was not powered as described. I called to ask for an RMA, which they refused. They were so sketchy and jerks about it, I took a screen grab of the site with the incorrect description, I don't know why I did this, I just had a gut feeling.

I waited a day to calm down, then called back, prepared to escalate as needed. After the first CSR refused my request for an RMA, I asked for a manager. After describing the issue, the manager said something like: "I'm looking at the page for that item right now and it clearly states that this device is not powered." I was shocked, pulled up the page, and sure enough, it said the device was unpowered. I pulled up my screen grab from the previous day, and it said powered.

Those jerks updated their site based on the issue I brought to their attention and now they were using that correction to refuse addressing my issue with the purchase. I told this to the manager, to which he responded something like: "Well I don't know what you're looking at or what you did to make it, but our site clearly states this device is not powered."

That is the type of company TigerDirect was to me, and I, for one, wish them only the best crop from those seeds they sewed.

I ended up calling American Express and resolving my dispute through them. They were much easier to work with. Since this incident I've been a happy NewEgg customer.
