[ale] grub rescue

What's your partitioning like?  You said you restored the partition from
clonezilla, so I'm guessing the part of grub placed in the MBR was
corrupted/bugged/etc.  If that was the case, even a restored partition
wouldn't fix it, but reinstalling would.
