I like HTML 5.  More semantic style tags and support for plugin-free
rich experiences are all I need to be convinced that it's a good thing.
 Of course, we're still waiting for the dust to settle on some parts of
it; WebSockets isn't yet stable insofar as I'm aware, for example.

Essentially, with HTML 5, the Web has become a truly viable
general-purpose application platform, without the need for things like
Silverlight, Flash or Java.  That is, IMHO, quite worth the step forward.
