The link below is a graphical view of the top 500.
It's quite telling to click on the "by OS" button :-) That M$ even shows up
is almost funny.

What is more telling is the notion of "what is important" viewed with the
"by application" button.

Weather/climate research has only 4 systems dedicated to it (340TFlops
total). Japan, Germany, UK and US have one each. And none of them is "big"
at ~8000 cores and 115TFlops compared to the _big_ clusters at 500+TFlops.
