[ale] converting old 8mm film to dvd

When I looked into doing this myself using a DSLR some time ago, one of 
my findings was that you'd chew through camera bodies at an alarming 
rate if you attempted to fire shutter on each frame.  Perhaps one of the 
Canons or upcoming Nikons that can shoot HD video?
