Thanks, I hope to be soon. Unfortunately, I'm looking for my next Java

I routinely do that for testing purposes, but I tend to run RH based
systems and yum makes it pretty easy to manage multiple JVM installs.

Yeah, applets are very picky and tend to fail a lot more. I tend to
shy away from applets unless absolutely necessary, although it sounds
like you're forced to use them. Most of my work is with Enterprise
Java and that tends to be pretty well behaved on upgrades.
