[ale] Finger Print Reader

Good day all,  I have a thinkpad t61 with a finger print reader.  It had
been working fine using the instructions from
http://www.ubuntu-unleashed.com/2008/04/get-your-fingerprint-reader-to-work-in.html
but recently something happened where it is not working when unlocking
my screen.  I am forced to enter my password.  What is weird is that I
have to enter it twice.  Any ideas why this might be happening.  The
reader is working to loginto my computer and when using sudo in the
command line.
