[ale] *&^^$& Spammers!

The ALE list has been getting hit daily with 150-250 unsubscriber spams
since it was moved to our new hosting facilities. That's all noise but
tolerable.

In case anyone is wondering, no, I don't sift through the chaff looking for
the ham messages. I simply delete them all.

Between Saturday around 7 pm when I last dumped the turd bucket and Sunday
at 10 am when I checked again, the bucket had been loaded with

6744 spams.

Yep. 6k+. Mailman is choking on clearing out the crap.

Maybe as savvy computer people ALE can tackle a social need: educating the
general population about intelligent use of email, how EVERY OFFER received
is crap, herbal viagra is fake, stock quotes are a scam, etc.
The spammers do this stuff because there are people who will fall prey to
it.

Maybe we need to team up with other groups worldwide and push harder for
IPv6 so it can help with the spoofing.
