[ale] ISP / DNS used for ale.org email?

I'm curious. We had an issue with DNS to our primary domain Thursday
morning that got resolved Friday afternoon.

Many things were working quickly after the resolution but others of
course had to wait for internet propagation. However, it appears that
ale was one of the worst as most of the email from Thursday morning
until today didn't get through until noon today.

Also I'm wondering if SERVFAIL is cached as long as valid lookups? It
seems there wouldn't be much point in caching that except to avoid
wasting cycles on unreachable domains but on the flip side you don't
know they're reachable again until much later.
