Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer science or a related field or
equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:Four or more years of technical/systems support related
experience. Preferred qualifications include: UNIX (Solaris and Linux)
system administration in a complex, medium to large-scale, heterogeneous
environment. Solaris and Linux server installation and administration,
configuration management, system monitoring and troubleshooting,
hardware maintenance and troubleshooting, patch management, networking,
security, account management, identity management and authentication
services, SMB and NFS files services, NIS, DNS, printer management,
electronic mail services, knowledge of scripting languages for Solaris
and Linux, and common system administration tools. Redhat system
administration or comparable UNIX certifications a plus. Experience in a
college/university environment desired. Selection process will include a
background check.

Duties:Member of the TSO (Technology Services Organization) Operations
group that provides system administration for the College of Computing
core servers. Responsible for: file services, print services,
networking, server management, patching, provisioning, backup and
recovery, and integrated directory services (Solaris, Linux, Window, Mac
OSX). Implement, manage, and automate well-defined system administration
processes, diagnose and resolve technical problems associated with
computer hardware and software interrelationships/dependencies. Install,
monitor and maintain computer software and hardware and perform testing
as required. Implement system monitoring and response procedures, mentor
junior staff and student assistants in the performance of system
administration tasks. Perform troubleshooting and solve complex
problems. The incumbent must possess effective verbal/written
communication as well as excellent customer service skills. This
position may be exposed to working near electrical circuits and requires
handling of objects up to 25 pounds and some standing and walking.
