Looking for an SA/SE with a lot of experience. The ability to climb into
a complex environment and pick up support and design work is critical.
Position: Systems Administrator
Location: Atlanta
Job mission
System administrators are responsible for first tier support and management
of a distributed network of Unix server systems and network troubleshooting.
System Administrators are responsible for hardware and operating systems
maintenance and support for servers at the corporate offices as well as
remote locations, support of internal IT functions and support of the
engineering team as needed. System Administrators are also responsible for
writing technical and training documentation.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
1.Troubleshoot network connectivity issues as they pertain to corporate
servers and networks
2.Primary liaison between Engineering and Operations groups
3.Implement and manage multi-vendor Unix installations supporting our
customer services
4.Develop, enhance and maintain system management applications and paradigms,
in partnership with Engineering developers.
5.Provide network and system administration expertise in support of Damballas
internal network/systems infrastructure.
6.Develop and enhance programming skills in Perl, C, and Java
7.Develop documentation of systems software and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Demonstrated experience in managing multi-vendor Unix systems.
2. Working knowledge of Unix kernel customization, backup methodologies,
device configuration, systems logging and general system administration
skills, particularly Linux and Solaris
3. Experience with Internet services (DNS, Exim/SMTP, HTTP, etc.)
4. Working knowledge of Unix systems utilities
(e.g., csh, sh, perl, awk, sed, RCS, etc.).
5. Demonstrated knowledge of C, Perl and Unix Shell programming techniques as
related to Internet applications design, TCP/IP Network Management and
Unix systems management.
6. Experience integrating Windows/Windows NT into Unix environments.
7. Experience troubleshooting, configuring and maintainting a TCP/IP
networked environment
8. Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting Sun Solaris.
KEY Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
1. Demonstrated project management skills.
2. Demonstrated customer service experience. In particular, the candidate
should show that they have worked closely with clients to implement large
network or systems oriented projects.
3. Ability to think creatively and to speak and write clearly, particularly
in effectively communicating technical ideas and concepts to staff and
clients. Ability to teach and train groups of semi-technical people.
4. Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, the sciences,
engineering or other related technical fields.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Candidates need to have the ability to work in a fast paced, changing
environment. Requires flexible work schedule, being on-call, and carrying
7x24 pager.
Position requires the ability to learn technical skills quickly and without
formal training - this is probably the strongest requirement of all.
