Hi Jim,

  Have you rebooted since fdisking?  A WAG tells me the kernel tables don't match what is on the disk.

  Out of curiosity, what does `file -s /dev/hda9` tell you?  What is your kernel version? (uname -r)  Does the version shown by `modinfo dm_mod` match the running kernel?
