Hi, Courtney
Been lurking on this thread for a while. Need to give you some facts on
my experience.
I use Verizon for cell service (CDMA) not GPRS ATT/Cingular.
I have two cell appliances. Samsung a650 (phone) and a Kyocera 650
PCcard modem.
Cell service 39.95 /month (Samsung phone device) usb cable connect to
unlimited data internet via Mobile office software.144kbs max NOT
LINUX.. 8-( free nights and weekends.

Data service 59.95 /month (same speed) for PCcard device in desktop
PCMCIA adapter, unlimited data.....HAH HA HA HA! 144kbs only when cell
system is not busy. Voice traffic has higher priority on the Verizon
shared cell towers. 'so you can watch the data rate drop to lower than
dial-up as the cell service gets used more...ie after school hours and
after 5PM.
Driver for linux is available. http://kenkinder.com (I to seem to recall)

If you wanted more or clarification I'd be glad to share...Hope this helps..

Jack

ps I now use satellite. NO cable/DSL/T-1 or decent wireless hereabouts.
