[ale] Package Management across multiple machines?

Hmm. In a previous life I set up a network of machines managed with
systemimager ( http://www.systemimager.org/ ). That was more on the image
than the package level. But this stuff might be worth a brief look. The
"related projects" page might also lead toward some solutions.
