[ale] reset the serial link on kermit on RHL 9

tried 'close' that a few times and even exiting Kermit with  "OK to exit?
yes Closing /dev/ttyS1...OK".
the same kermit still works through ttyS0 to a different device.
I guess the next thing I'll try is to have the co-lo tech to switch ttyS0
in, so I can see whether the console port on the switch itself is to blame.
