The fact that the machine is plugged into a hub implies that there
are other machines connected to the hub as well. In this case,
depending on how those other machines are configured, things
may get a bit more complicated. You probably do not want
any machine other than your "router" machine asking the
modem for an IP address.
This is all a lot easier with two NICs, but it should be possible
to make things work out with only one. Courtney may need to
give us more details about the network setup.
