Yeah, there's an ambiguity between whether he was talking about the bricks and
mortal Blockbusters or the online Blockbuster service, but I never let that
stop me tweak folks a bit (all in good fun).

I don't do online games.  I tend to borrow from friends who are crazier into
gaming than I am or swing by their house and play for a bit.

Depending on the game, it might be worth your while to swing by a LAN center
or a game store which lets you pay to play games for a period of time and see
if they have whatever new game you're looking at.  It might be worth it to
plunk down some cash to play the game on their computer for 30-60 minutes to
find out if you like it.  Just a thought.
