The main reason I was suggesting the video / DVD route is the convenience and 
accessibility of standardized viewing systems, especially for showing or 
sharing the program with groups of Family and Friends.

Delivering through video also allows you to add aspects of motion to the 
static slides or photos which make the presentation much more visually 
interesting. My experience is that, done right, this can be a very effective 
enhancement, at least judging by the emotional reactions of every client 
viewing a Memory Book of family photos that I've edited for them.  :-)

In general, mainstream computer systems have become great tools for processing 
and editing motion media,  but their main design focus is to present static 
media and they are still very lacking when it comes to delivering quality 
video that doesn't suffer severe motion artifacts.
