Try passing options to grub as to where the kernel and root fs are.
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda2
Although there's no telling what it's seeing this drive as, generally I
would expect it to ge /dev/hde, assuming there are 4 on board ide. You
might try disabling the on board ide, set the bios to boot from the
first ide as it should then see the board as the first ide. (I think)
