[ale] Mandrake 10.0 configure and make errors - whaaa?

It really sounds like a borked installation of the development
environment. Check for a good ld.so.conf, kernel includes, general
includes, etc. Start with the basic "hello world" in C, C++. Double
check that the glibc referenced in the environment is correct.
