This smells like the header (This data is equivalent to the data on
cylinder 0 on a HD) that is written to the tape at the beginning of the
session is corrupt. You can send it off to a data house for
recovery, but the costs associated with recovery are going to be huge.
Somewhere around 3K to 5K.


Why would you use 4mm to backup critical data? The technology is not
reliable.
