[ale] Very unusual delete problem #1

Problem #1:
Something happened to my Suse 8.1 box in my user account. There is a directory 
that contains files that cannot be deleted by the user OR root. All attempts 
to delete the file in run level 3 and 5 are met with failure and an immediate 
reboot of the system!
the path was: .mozilla/default/f4t9a1q6.slt/Cache.Trash/Cache/Cache/*

Doing an ll in that directory yeilds:
drew at change:~> ll oldmozilla/default/f4t9a1q6.slt/Cache.Trash/Cache/oldcache/
ls: oldmozilla/default/f4t9a1q6.slt/Cache.Trash/Cache/oldcache/S0_RS4_: No 
such file or directory
ls: 
oldmozilla/default/f4t9a1q6.slt/Cache.Trash/Cache/oldcache/cessERK8QCStringRK9QMemArrayIcERS0_RS4_: 
No such file or directory
ls: oldmozilla/default/f4t9a1q6.slt/Cache.Trash/Cache/oldcache/Ev: No such 
file or directory
