Thanks for the tip. FemLab is a pretty slick tool. It is to finite
element analysis as MatLab is to matrix
manipulation(mangling/mayhem/mastication). Finite element modeling is
turning into the generic process for analyzing nearly any physical
system. From structural stress in an airplane wing to photonic shock
effects in semiconductors, FEM is a good tool to understand.

Of course, one the Hamiltonian state is defined it's all numerical
approximations after that.
