[ale] Logs for pppoe connection?

All,

I'm using Knoppix 3.3 and am having trouble connecting
to my Bellsouth [Westell] DSL modem.  The go-between
is a Belkin F5D623-03 router -- I'm using ethernet but
it also does wireless. Can anyone tell me which logs
to review and where to find them?
