[ale] RH up2date error

I am trying to use up2date to install the latest rpm packages. For example,
if I select rpm ver. 4.0.4 release 7x, I get the following error:

Unsolvable chain of dependencies
perl-Perl-RPM 0.291-2 requires librpm.so.0
perl-Perl-RPM 0.291-2 requires librpmio.so.0

I'm running RH7.1, kernel 2.4.9-31. Can anyone give me an ideas what is
causing up2date not to work and what I can do to fix it?
