I don't do news much anymore, when I do I use the Netscape reader.  Back 
when I was more active in newsgroups I used trn, which is a command line 
threaded newsreader.

Sorry, I don't know what par/rar files are...

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
