Yes.  The first error above is from the server, in response to the 
execution of dhcpcd on another machine.  The second error is generated 
by the client.  I mis-typed the client error message:

time out waiting for a valid DHCP server response

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
