[ale] Weird DSL problem...

Maybe you are having problems with your ppp connection reading special
characters during the ssh login from the remote box. The connection
could be dropped if pppd interprets a disconnect when there really
wasn't one. Read up on the pppd docs. Just a $0.02 guess.
