[ale] ethernet switch issues

I am continuing to research this, suspecting that the linksys card is
the problem.  I downloaded the tulip-diag program and it appears to
indicate that the card is not going to full-duplex.  Yet, if I attempt
to force it that way by adding options to /etc/modules.conf or to the
command line 'insmod' of tulip.o, I can't seem to change the duplex
mode.

It also appears that I'm running the latest greatest tulip driver as
well.

Further suggestions would be appreciated, I'm likely to switch the card
with another, or pick up another netgear card.  If I can't get two
netgear cards to work with a netgear switch, then the switch goes back.
