I thought I had this working once before, but apparently not....
I have a Colorado 8MB Travan drive. I'm trying to get it to work with
Linux. After enabling FTAPE in the kernel, dmesg yields:
ftape v3.04d 25/11/97 for Linux 2.4.7
[000] ftape-init.c (ftape_init) - installing QIC-117 floppy tape hardware
drive ... .
[001] ftape-init.c (ftape_init) - ftape_init @ 0xc02bb120.
[002] ftape-buffer.c (add_one_buffer) - buffer nr #1 @ c10ac6c0, dma area
@ c0318000.
[003] ftape-buffer.c (add_one_buffer) - buffer nr #2 @ c10ac740, dma area
@ c0008000.
[004] ftape-buffer.c (add_one_buffer) - buffer nr #3 @ c10ac7c0, dma area
@ c0018000.
[005] ftape-calibr.c (time_inb) - inb() duration: 636 nsec.
[006] ftape-calibr.c (ftape_calibrate) - TC for `ftape_udelay()' = 832 nsec
(at 10239 counts).
[007] ftape-calibr.c (ftape_calibrate) - TC for `fdc_wait()' = 1774 nsec
(at 5119 counts).
"ls -lt /dev/qft0" yields:
crw-rw---- 1 root disk 27, 0 Aug 7 07:25 /dev/qft0
but "tar cf /dev/qft0 ." yields:
tar: /dev/qft0: Cannot open: No such device
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Any suggestions on what to do to fix this?
