Jeff,
Thank you for that tip!  I'll try that tonight and see what happens. 
The error I got when I tried the 3c509BTP cards on Wednesday night was a
module parameter error.  So you'll have fixed that!  I'll try without
the IRQ and I/O address tonight and see if the cards start working.  If
that doesn't work, I'll try the driver/diags off the 3COM site.  Thanks
everyone for the tips on the cards!
