I tried it. It installed fine, but BB seems to have the same flaw
I've found in almost every window manager I've tried--it doesn't let
override redirect windows get keyboard input. Since I'm writing an
application that is all in an override redirect window, this would
make the application very hard to use.

(For those wondering why I'm doing this, I'm writing a java
application. When I use a java JFrame it isn't sized correctly, but a
Java JWindow is. Since the application will ultimate run without a
window managed, the frame or lack thereof is not important, but the
window size is.)

The only window managers I've found that work are twm and flwm. twm
is kind of kluncky. I sort of like flwm, but I wouldn't mind slightly
tighter integration into Gnome or KDE.
