[ale] SCSI CD not in /dev

Hello,

   I'm posting this for a friend. He's got a PIONEER CD-ROM DR-U06S
SCSI CD-ROM that is probed correctly (the kernel sees it, recognizes it)

and gives the following:

Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 1, lun 0

However, when he goes to /dev to look for sr0, it's not there. He tried

makedev sr0

and it states,

./makedev: don't know how to make device sr0

Any thoughts?
