Hello,

I'm having trouble with xterm and rxvt. I've tried running
them with a variety of window managers (icewm, fvwm2, etc)
and they always either refuse to start or flash a window up.
The errors are:

xterm: no available ptys

rxvt: can't open slave tty (null)
Usage: -a <slave-device-name> <host>
                -d <slave-device-name>

Anybody have any clues?

A little background may be useful. It's a Redhat 6.0 box.
128 Megs of memory, Matrox Mystique card with appropriate
X server (it worked before), dual booting Win98 and Redhat
(I'll pause here for the whistles and cat calls to die down).
I recently upgraded my hard drives. Prior to upgrading they
looked like:

/dev/hda1: Win98 (mounted as /mnt/cdrive)
/dev/hdb1: Win98 (mounted as /mnt/ddrive)
/dev/sda1: swap
/dev/sda5: /
/dev/sdb1: /home1

I then replaced hda with a new drive and moved some stuff
around. The new configuration looks like:

/dev/hda1: Win98 (mounted as /mnt/cdrive)
/dev/hda5: /home
/dev/hdb1: Win98 (mounted as /mnt/ddrive)
/dev/sda1: swap
/dev/sda5: /
/dev/sdb1: /usr/local

I got rid of /home1 and moved /home from /dev/sda5 to
/dev/hda5 (larger partition). I also moved /usr/local from
/dev/sda5 to /dev/sdb1 (more space for / and for /usr/local).
I moved everything manually (cp, mv, etc) and used linuxconf
to handle the mods to fstab (is it just me or is linuxconf
kind of a pain to use?).

   TIA,
