Yes, your average ATAPI cdr(w) should work fine.  I've heard of some
off-brands that don't work but that is pretty rare.  I've also noticed no
difference in performance.  Since an ATAPI, afterall, is just and IDE
device that can accept SCSI commands, it's not much of a stretch.
