Bonjour. Pardonez-moi, je parle francais tres tres mal. Le Free Software
Union est un group tres similaire de Linux38. Peut-etre nous pouvons
travailer ensemble?

"Free Software Lovers Unite!"
This is a call to users, developers, and enthusiasts of Free Software to
join a new, all volunteer organization attempting to provide a
democratic decision making and project coordination body for
the Free Software community.
The Free Software Union wishes to, among other things:
- provide the means for the community to democratically decide upon
standards, protocols, and interoperability systems for Free Software,
- provide a mechanism for group discussion, design, team implementation,
endorsement, and publicity for Free Software projects.
- reduce redundancy among Free Software projects by providing a
centralized place to review existing solutions with the community.
- provide a means to coordinate manpower and resources of the
Free Software community towards coherent, compatable goals.
- provide a legal face for the community for licensing arrangements,
negotiations/promotions with industry, and other needs.
Hopefully these functions will move the community strongly towards the
writing of large scale, interoperable applications and software
components such as REAL word processors and office suites, etc.
Projects currently being discussed include adoption/free implementations
of CORBA or SOM; licensing OpenDoc source from IBM and CI Labs for porting
and for community use; an integration of the Linux Software Map, BSDPorts,
and other sources of Free Software package information into one database;
an integrated application development environment, and endorsement of
suggested look-and-feel standards.
We encourage everyone to gain a vote on issues by registering with the
FSU, and optionally join some of our mailing lists, and maybe contribute
know-how or will-do to the community!
