Bob Toxen asked:
>What's the latest scoop on Linux running on a MAC?
The OSF has ported Linux to the OSF microkernel and says they will have the
microkernel and Linux for the microkernel ported to the first-generation
Power Mac architecture some time in the second quarter. They have already
demonstrated the microkernel and Linux up and running on a Power Mac and
are working on the details at this point.
You can find information on the port at the following locations:
<http://www.gr.osf.org/mklinux> and <http://mklinux.apple.com/>. For
general info on open operating systems for Mac hardware, take a look at
<http://puma.bevd.blacksburg.va.us/openmac/>.
Cheers,
Coty
P.S. A port of the OSF microkernel and Linux to the Intel x86 architecture
is already available, but I haven't loaded it. Has anyone on the list
loaded it yet? Any comments?
