Hi, I saw your details online, and wondered if you, or somebody you know
would be interested in the following permanent position, based in New York
(Brooklyn)



Senior DevOps Engineer x 2, Hands-on Technical Manager x 1



Manager Notes:

1) 1 position is for a Hands-on Technical Manager, 2 positions are pure
DevOps Engineers

2) Must be onsite in Brooklyn

3) Client provides full benefits, relo assistance if needed, sponsorship if
needed, great work environment, etc

4) For the Engineers; base salary range is $135-180k depending on level of
experience/etc

5) For the Hands-on Technical Manager, base salary will be in the $200k
ballpark +

6) There is some flexibility on the technical skillset, the primary goal is
to hire really strong technical candidates.



The Role:

You will be in the thick of solving the challenges of systems at scale in a
way most engineers never experience, this will require managing petabytes
of storage and gigabits/s of transit. As a systems engineer, your mission
will be to ensure that the platform and infrastructure are always
available, scalable, fast and engineered to withstand the unpredictable
demands. You will design and develop the systems that run their platform
products, and build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and
operations. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and
work with just about every other engineering team. You will be looked upon
as an expert and advocate to fellow engineers on making design and
reliability trade-offs in running large-scale services and engineering
complex systems that fail gracefully and transparently to users. A
successful candidate for this role will have strong analytical and
troubleshooting skills, deep understanding of Linux kernel and IPv4
networking, fluency in coding, strong communication skills, insatiable
intellectual curiosity, and a desire to tackle the complex problems related
to real-time streaming.



*Responsibilities:*

·                  Manage the availability, latency, scalability and
efficiency of their platform.

·                  Respond to and resolve platform problems.

·                  Solve tasks in a generic way that can be automated (so
no task is ever done by hand twice).

·                  Participate in capacity planning and forecasting, system
performance analysis, and system tuning.

·                  Review and influence ongoing design architecture of
their platform.

·                  Ability to handle on-call and out-of-band requests.

·                  Other duties as assigned.



*Minimum Qualifications:*

·                  BS degree in Computer Science or related field. In lieu
of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.

·                  Fluency in at least one of the following languages: C,
C++, Java, Perl, Python

·                  Familiarity with at least two of the following
languages: Python, Perl, PHP, JavaScript, Erlang, Scala, Ruby.

·                  Ability to write scripts using Shell, awk, sed, etc.



*Preferred Qualifications:*

·                  MS degree in Computer Science or related field.

·                  Expert knowledge of IPv4 networking, routing protocols,
IPv4 stacks, Linux implementation of network stacks, FreeBSD implementation
and NFS.

·                  Expert knowledge of Linux kernel.

·                  Understanding of video streaming protocols.
