This person will be a jack of all trades using multiple tools or software
components where they have to maintain and engineer solutions.

1. Scripting / Programming: PERL is the main language they will be working
with. Some PYTHON, KSHELL, and BASH. 30% of their time will be spent here,
depending on skill level
2. Application Integration: Configuration management with Puppet.
Experience integrating various monitoring tools into the environment.
Taking 3rd party solutions and integrating them into ETRADE's environment.
(30% of their time will be spent doing this)
3. Workflow or Batch Automation: Control-M. Experience engineering,
maintaining and supporting batch automation software. (30% of their time
will be spent doing this).

*Job Description:*

This resource will assist with new projects including the data center build
in 2014. They manage a lot of the solutions that are used for monitoring,
metrics, dashboarding, automation of deployments, workflows, scripting,
programming for different business teams to visualize data and systems
performance. They manage all environments including development, QA, UAT,
and production. They manage tools, frameworks and implement software
solutions into their environment.

Job Summary:
Candidate will work in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment to
engineer, develop and implement a wide variety of system and web-based
frameworks. The candidate will design solutions with automation, data
collection and data visualization in mind, leveraging deployment related
data from multiple environments. The candidate will work with a wide array
of technologies to create solutions for a variety of projects and
audiences. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

* Work in a highly collaborative team environment
* Adapt to new technology and programming languages
* Engineer, develop and integrate in-house frameworks and solutions to
automate processes and collect, monitor and visually represent data to a
variety of reporting structures
* Maintain and support third party monitoring solutions
* Participate in a wide variety of projects within the organization.
Projects are a reflection of the candidate's skill set, growth and ambition
* Conceptualize and implement monitoring and automation strategies
* Support users of in-house and third party tools

Job Details:

* Project Based engineering role on the Tools and Automation Engineering
team
* Engineer, implement and support in-house frameworks with a focus on
Automation and Scalability
* Engineer, implement and support third party solutions
* Support users of the various monitoring tools, applications and
frameworks

*Additional Information:*

Candidate Requirements (external):

* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
o Self motivated with a strong work ethic
o Linux System Administration
o 3+ years of experience with Shell Scripting (bash, ksh, sh)
o 2+ years of Programming experience with Perl and/or Python
o Experience with System and Application monitoring
o Experience and knowledge of Web-based Applications
o Web development, HTML/CSS and Javascript experience are a plus
o Experience working with and implementing a variety of third party
solutions
o Experience with virtualization technology and cloud based solutions
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
o Experience with Workload/Batch Automation a plus

* Background Experience
o B.S in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical
field

*Work Environment:*

The Tools and Automation team consists of 5 members. They are a fairly
uniform team with some senior staff focusing on more programming and
development work, and newer guys doing the integration and admin roles.

Nagios for Monitoring Software. ControlM for Batchflow and workflow
automation. SOLr winds, New Relic APM for application monitoring.
Programming will be done in PERL, Python, and some KSHELL and Bash
