Linux / Solaris Application Support position. Must have 2 of the following:
Web logic, Tibco, Vitria, JBoss, or Tomcat Must be available for a

*Description:*
Linux and Solaris Engineer will be responsible for the support &
administration of applications and server platform used for the delivery of
content/services.**
*Responsibility: *
- Understand, in depth, the business processes supported by the system
- Deploy new applications and bug fixes across multiple server and
operating system platforms
- Work closely with Software development teams to troubleshoot and code
installation
- Support for application configuration and lab functionality
- Maintain applications in a manner that supports delivery of services
to multiple platforms, resilience, and performance
- Track progress and escalate as appropriate unless resolution reached
- Ensure standards and guidelines are applied and maintained across
applications for administration, deployment and monitoring over a range of
platforms that largely comprises industry standard components. This
includes applications, web server components and databases
- Ensure application and service processes and outputs are error free
and complete
- Identify faults and issues and recommend appropriate paths to
resolution, and fixing as appropriate
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all
stakeholders. This will include technical, operational and editorial staff
as well as third parties
- Undertake advanced system administration tasks as required e.g. to
support problem resolution
- Support the development teams in deploying applications and solving
problems
- Support QA teams in configuration of applications for testing
- Ensure appropriate contingency procedures are in place for
applications and that they are regularly tested
- Contribute to process development and best practice
- Ensure that applications and related services are documented and kept
current
*Experience:*
- 8+ years of hands on experience in a responsible for installation,
configuration, integration and validation of lab components (i.e. servers,
software, networks)
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols
- RF / Video Head-End experience a plus
- Ability to identify issues or exposures and propose solutions
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience in a variety of Operational Support Environments
- Must have 2 of the following: Weblogic, Tibco, Vitria, JBoss, or Tomcat
