Must-haves
-Red Hat Linux or one of its derivatives (CentOS, Fedora, etc.) 
-MySQL (or Oracle) 
-Bash (or some other Linux shell- korn) 
-some type of virtualization experience (KVM, RHEV, Openstack,VMWare, etc.) 

Anyone that has experience with at least two of the bullet points below, will work! 

-Riak or mongo dB or redis or couch dB or memcached (not looking for a DBA, but somebody that can work with the some type of non SQL databases) 
-Nginx (or APACHE) AND Unicorn (or tomcat or jboss) 
-HAProxy, netscaler, or F5 loadbalancers (prefer HAProxy) 
-monitoring production systems (Nagios, Zabbix, ZenOSS, etc... prefer Nagios) 
-Experience with some type of automated system configuration utility such as Puppet, cfengine, chef (prefer puppet experience)
 
Plusses
Engineering, CS, or Mathematics degree 
RedHat certified (RHCSA, RHCE - RHCE preferred) 
Releasing ruby code to production using deploy scripts 
experience with RedHat IPA and/or LDAP authentication 
experience with Satellite, CFEngine, Puppet, or Chef 
MySQL clustering (true clustering, not simple replication) 
experience with gdb, strace, dtrace, valgrind, tcpdump, tshark, wireshark, etc 
Ruby on Rails and Sinatra performance tuning 
JVM performance tuning 
experience with varnish and/or squid (prefer varnish) 
experience with Gomez, Keynote, or CatchPoint
 
Day-to-Day
oEngineers the support and maintenance of large-scale production networks and systems, including the design and development of tools and scripts to assist with such maintenance. 
oStrong background in SDLC with responsibilities to stage and deploy software releases to production environments. 
oDevelops scripts to automate software releases and maintenance activities across the enterprise 
oIntegrates and/or consolidates servers and services between different business units and technologies, including the design and development of the necessary integration tools. 
oDesigns, integrates, and maintains network services such as DNS, DHCP, SNMP, SMTP, OpenLDAP, SMS, WSUS. 
oDesigns and develops high-performance groups of servers for resource-intensive applications. 
oPlans and implements system security policy, to include host and client access, file permissions, user accounts, patching, and system hardening. 
oReviews current systems and makes tech! nical/process recommendations for improving efficiency. 
oWorks close with technical staff to insure that backup and archiving designs and procedures are implemented properly. 
oTroubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct issues and other operational problems. 
oStays up to date with relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Evaluates new hardware and software technologies, and presents analysis and purchase recommendations to management. 
oRotational on-call responsibility.
