Sr. System Administrator 
- Retail Web Services



SUMMARY 
This position reports directly to the Manager of Enterprise Environment Management and will serve as the technical support interface for Retail Web Services, Oracle PoS, Oracle CRM, and Vertex applications in a pre-production environment. 
This individual will work with Application Development, QA Testing, Engineering, Architecture, Release Management, and Operations to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during testing and development. 
The candidate will also be accountable for maintaining a production like lab and governing the processes needed to ensure a stable testing environment.





RESPONSIBILITIES 


1. 


Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels in standalone and multi-tiered environments. 


2. 


In a pre-production environment, performs installation, customization and maintenance of the operating system and system software products in support of business processing requirements. 


3. 


Conducts system analysis, configuration management and develops improvements for system software performance, availability and reliability. 


4. 


Performs incident resolution, problem determination and root cause analysis in accordance with Service Level Agreements. 


5. 


Provides in-depth diagnosis for operating systems, applications, or software/hardware failures and develops solutions. 


6. 


Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. 


7. 


Prescribes system backup / disaster recovery procedures and directs recovery operations in the event of destruction of all or part of the operating system or other system components. 


8. 


Implements appropriate levels of system security. Perform impact assessments for change management activities and maintain change control and production like parity for the applications, hardware, and network components within the Video QA environments.


9. 


Negotiates and provides levels of estimates for projects between business units and the Environment Management Team.


10. 


Provides technical assistance to, DBAs, Network Engineers, Application Developers, Operations, other System Administrators, Project Managers, Change Managers and QA.









QUALIFICATIONS 





Required


1. 


Requires BS/BA in related discipline (i.e., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) and 5+ years of experience in a similar technical contributor position utilizing advanced troubleshooting, installation and configuration methods in a large cable or computer networked systems company.


2. 


Must be self-motivated and be able to drive large projects and tasks to completion utilizing strong communication skills and the ability to work with and lead large teams. 


3. 


Must have experience implementing, troubleshooting, and configuring Oracle POS, and or Oracle Siebel CRM. 


4. 


Experience in deploying Java applications across multiple environments.


5. 


Strong ability to utilize application and network tools (HP site scope, HP Diagnostics, TCP Dump, Wireshark) to perform root cause analysis and resolve issues quickly.


6. 


Ability to support multiple stand-alone and/or clustered server environments. 


7. 


Knowledge of Linux virtualization technologies (Xen, VMware ESX).


8. 


Knowledge of Solaris LDOMS and Zones


9. 


Must have experience in system administration on various operating systems, Microsoft Windows, Sun, and UNIX / Linux.


10. 


Proficient knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) required. 


11. 


Highly self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, strong sense of ownership, drive to learn and master new technologies, and the ability to work in a highly-dynamic environment. 


12. 


Great customer facing / presentation skills to all levels of management.
