Systems Analyst / Administrator

 

Skills: Linux (Redhat), Windows 2008, Apache, Tomcat, RDBMS such as
Oracle, MySql and SQL Server

 

This is a 3-6 month contract to perm opportunity with a fantastic team -
enjoy work/life balance in this educational setting! The Systems Analyst
/ Administrator will serve as a liaison between Research Health Science
IT and University Technical Services to assist in addressing and
resolving IT software and hardware issues. Main responsibilities include
off the shelf installs and configurations, monitoring of systems, issue
resolution, etc. Provide technical expertise and recommendations in
assessing new IT software projects and initiatives. Other
responsibilities include understanding business requirements, analysis,
design, programming, testing, implementation, and support of these
services. The ideal candidate is decisive, collaborative, takes the
initiative, and can multi-task. We need someone who likes to dig in and
do the research, and find solutions.

 

Responsibilities

 

Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business
processes.

Investigate and resolve application functionality related issues and
provide support and troubleshooting. 

Assist in troubleshooting software application issues. 

Assist in managing an outsource relationship for 3rd party application
development and programming consultants 

Assist tech services with database and application installation and
testing. 

Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in
existing applications to meet changing user requirements. 

Provides assistance and advice to business users in the effective use of
applications and information technology.

 

Qualifications

 

Experience installing, configuring and supporting Linux Operating
Systems (Redhat 4/5/6) as well as Windows (2003/2008) 

Experience with Apache and Tomcat 

Experience with scripting languages as well as configuration management
and build/release management responsibilities 

Strong knowledge of one or more RDBMS such as Oracle, MySQL and MS SQL
Server 

System testing and debugging of applications such as RedCap, Project
Server, TUSK, CRAssit, eIRB. 

Must be comfortable with technical drawings of application and
infrastructure 

Excellent communication (verbal/written) and client facing experience a
must 

Must have problem solving mindset with ability to self-teach or hunt for
the answer at times. Must like to dig in and research to find solutions.


Organizational and multi-tasking skills are key 

Must be highly collaborative with strong decision making acumen
