 *Linux System Administrator*

 Our client is looking for a  Linux / Network Systems Professional for to
join their team. Your background should encompass a broad technical
foundation in Systems and Networking. You will need an in depth knowledge
of Linux, Virtualization, Networking, and supporting services. At least
five years industry experience in a system maintenance role supporting a
Virtual Server and Linux/Windows data center environment is mandatory.

Career Summary: The Linux System Administrator will join the Operations
team in managing 500+ servers running RHEL, Centos, Debian, Ubuntu, Linux,
and Windows servers for both internal services and managed customer
solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain and monitor production systems to ensure optimal performance and
uptime.
• Produce and analyze metrics for servers and storage to ensure uptime,
enhance performance, and optimize resource  allocation and utilization.
• Effectively communicate with IT staff and management at all levels.
• Manage infrastructure to support new and existing server installations,
and software/build integration.
• Improve and implement project and process change to meet customer needs
and exceed customer expectations.
• Create process work flow diagrams, product documentation, and product
knowledge articles.
• Serve as a mentor and training resource to other members of the
Operations team.
• Prioritize, coordinate, and deliver special technology projects.
• Evaluate and present new technologies to leadership (R&D).
• Exercises judgment using procedures and best practices to determine
appropriate problem resolution.
• Act as a member of our technical service on-call rotation resolution team.

Requirements:
• Expert in Linux systems administration with 5 to 7 years of Linux/UNIX
GNU support experience in production environment.
• Solid understanding of Intel-based server hardware, including RAID
configuration.
• Knowledge of advanced server functions including virtualization,
clustering, load balancing and directory services.
• Strong technical understanding of Volume Management in a SAN environment.
• Strong technical understanding of IPtables, Intrusion Detection and
Prevention, and OpenVPN.
• Understanding of IP routing, VLAN switching & IP Sub Netting
• Experience with mission critical web server solutions (Apache/MySQL/Bind).
• Experience with mission critical email solutions (Qmail/Vpopmail/Horde).
• Experience with managing Vmware, KVM, XEN  virtual environments.
• Automation experience, preferably using Bash, Perl, Python or Ruby and
the ability to read and understand code written in C.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, research, and verbal and written
communication skills.
• Experience with Monitoring systems (Zenoss, Cacti, Nagios)
• Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies.
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or equivalent
experience.
